Problem
A known and trusted Adelaide law firm, Barbaro Thilthorpe Lawyers were undergoing a change in their name and structure, changing to BTD Lawyers to incorporate their newest partner. As part of this, they were looking for a more contemporary brand identity. Law is a category that relies on implicit trust and expertise, and the firm required a visual identity that would convey their excellence while also feeling approachable for clients. This branding would also form the basis of a new website design.
Solution
Our team crafted a tailored brand identity for the firm, including a new logo, icon and colour palette, coalescing to evoke credibility, experience and reliability. This new identity was provided alongside a comprehensive style guide detailing its correct usage, and guided our in-house development of a new website. Our designs were informed by detailed research into the business, understanding of their category, and feedback from the BTD team, helping convey their desired brand personality to prospective clients.
Brand Design
The partners at BTD Lawyers were keen to create a more contemporary look for their firm and brand, reflecting their growth and evolution, as well as their respect within the law field. Regarded primarily as an Adelaide firm, BTD wanted to reframe their reputation as a highly experienced, multi-practice law firm with wider reach, and not a small local presence. They also wanted to maintain their full name of Barbaro Thilthorpe Daniel Lawyers in the brand, to help their transition to a new primary name.
With their help and guidance, we identified key characteristics they wanted to promote: expertise in multiple areas of law, professionalism and experience, and quality service. Based on their desired look and feel, we presented three distinct brand directions, each with a unique colour palette and style.
Process
Our final product was a contemporary logo design that held a traditional touch, maintaining elements from the original brand identity to ensure the reputation they had cultivated over years was maintained. The new logo evokes the team’s ability and trustworthiness, with the overlapping rings of the icon symbolising the exceptional and reliable synergy of the firm.
The updated logo and accompanying icon are seamlessly integrated with an energetic and assured primary colour palette of navy, azure, light blue and cream. The secondary logo adds to their credibility with a timeless and minimalist design. All of these elements combine to deliver a strong impression of excellence.
Results
Web Design & Development
The existing website for the firm was largely quite generic, using stock images that did little to convey the brand or deliver a message to potential clients. Their goal was to use new branding to uplift the website and give it a sophisticated, sleek and fresh look. Given their expertise across a variety of areas, their website needed to deliver information in a clear and accessible way, while also encouraging action from users at multiple touchpoints.
As part of the web build, we also needed to migrate their website to a new domain, ensuring its technical profile was sound and secure. The proposed design was presented to the BTD team for feedback, before developing a functional prototype for them to access and review.
Process
We built out the entire website in-house, deploying the new branding in a functional and clean interface, allowing potential clients to easily access key information and become familiar with BTD Lawyers. The website’s visual profile is modern with a secure technical profile, incorporating unique functional elements at multiple points. We also crafted custom form-fills to generate leads and continue to grow their business.
Overall, the new website hits the key objectives of delivering the new branding and bringing the firm into a more present state.
